Blog: Gen.K Jewelry Launch and Our lil' sis first outdoor bazaar

Hello ladies!
Am under the weather today (could be the food) and took this time to blog about the mentioned! First up I wanna update was our lil' sista, The Plus Mannequin (www.theplusmannequin.com) had her first cute little debut outdoor sales at Scape Bazaar!!!

 

 

so glad this precious came by to help me out!

TRUST me, it was amazing crowd! I had customer coming as early as 10 am! (she told me that she want to be the first! SMART MOVE!!) and I got to meet new faces that day! They were shy customers whom we have never met before. They came by to see and feel what TPM had to offer! We also met a few girls and had a great chat and kept each other updated on our lives. Of course mine is boring, busy and stress with work.. nadah nadah, you know the usual jazz la. Some girls told us via instagram (@kayleneonline) that they couldnt make it and wish we will be able to do more of such similar events again. It was so nice... It was almost unreal (Mr Ling was shocked to see the response and how much love they have on us by specially coming down JUST for a quick chat)

And just across a road.....

My sister, Gen had her first bazaar too! Been wanting to see if I should be announcing that we are blood sisters worrying that there will be gossipmongers on business related 'thangs' But I thought about it, why not? Side note, this is purely her own business and KAYLENE does not own the business. We thought about it and decided the best was that she venture on her own without KAYLENE. So there, I shall post about Gen.K Jewelry today...

My ELDER (I must stress that even though I am 'older' in many ways) SISSY had joined the entreprenuer bandwagon and started to create pieces that was truly her own. The previous pieces she had was working with different artisans from across the world but she felt it wasnt enough to give her the ability to create and develop her artistic skills. Our love of jade has always been love-hate (stories for the future) but after weeks of discussion and drawing, she decided that using jade as her primary gemstone speaks most strongly to her and the history behind jade is so great till she couldnt resist. Gen.K Jewelry was then born and since then, she met her jade cutter craftsman with many of the pieces are painstakingly cut out into shape and polished in accordance to my sis. Silver was not spared too... she got to speak to craftsman and had specially drawn wires to do her wiring. Each final product was simple yet speak luxe, each design has a east meets west 'jive' to it.

How can I not walk over to her booth? It was the same day! While she was in aircon, I was under the hot sun! 

Jade being 'modernised'. Who would have thought that wooden buttons can go so well with jade! OOOOH!

Random Note

Sometimes I feel like I am a very blessed girl. I have a customer specially came by to shop to bade farewell to me as she will be going overseas to study. Although I am not there in the shop, I could feel tt love and sincerity from her.I was so overwhelmed even though it was a message passed to me via my collegue's text.

Times like this, I think I definitely did the right thing on taking on this path and that is to service people in "need". A dear friend once told me that I am destined to "heal" people through my hands and that I am destined to be a teacher. I don't know if it makes sense but what ever the case is, I am determined to make more girls feel comfortable and pretty through my designs.

There are literally days in EACH week when I feel very insecure with the future for the shop, the stress on the amount of money spent for shop (recent heart attack was more than 10k worth of fabric (only)), the girls I am responsible of and I must make sure that they will be paid.. I can be broke for all I care because I am responsible for the outcome should I one day be penniless, but my collegues CAN never be in a situation where they feel stress by money. These are daily 'heart attacks' I get and not often I get to be open and say it out.

But after the farewell she bade to me, all the tense nerves and aching bones had temporarily disappeared for I know at this very moment I did something right, at least to someone who came by to the shop just to say goodbye.

Till we meet again, dear H, we will see you again and meanwhile, come back with glorious results!

Blog: The 'F' word... I didnt see anything that says...

 

 

Was having a conversation with my team members in office and one mentioned to me about the word 'FAT. She was telling me how this word has been so cursed by the society and the moment it is said to any person, the poor child gets emotionally upset and wrecked. However, for the 3 of us in the office, when we were discussing about the cursed 'F' word, none of us felt disgusted or upset. We are generally okay with the word simply because... We Are Fat! Maybe because we each have our strong support system, and we have wonderful family to stood by us and love us beyond the weighing scale. But the convo lingers quite a bit, and hence I decided to google the 'F' word and found something interesting...

 

THE DEFINITION OF  

'FAT' DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE UGLY OR LAZY.

 

Not sure what I mean? Here, let me show you...

NOW, kindly do not misterpret my words. I am not encouraging that obesity is okay neither am I saying that we all can be fat. What I am trying to address here is that the word FAT does not mean that you are ugly and lazy. This word has been abused and to make things worse, people use it too easily and get too upset by it. I DO UNDERSTAND that I am one of the most fortunate girl in the world for I have many support both slim and fat girls community to support me. But from the way I see, I get love and support from them because of who I am, my character and personality. I am loved despite me being fat because they could see the genuine side of me. And honestly, I have NEVER been called UGLY, simply because I am not. 

Most of us plus size girls that I know ( I dare say 99 percent of plus size girls that I know personally and customers as well ) are super duper nice. Heart that is MADE of pure gold, personality that is 100 percent sweet. their facial features are so gorgeous. Sad to say, because of the 'F' word that they have been called has made most of them turn into a shy and aloof inidividual. I am addressing the 'F' word today, simple because I did my research and found NO evidence to show that the definition of being fat is ugly and lazy. I honestly think that we should start rethinking and reevaluate our own self on how you define yourself to be. I have made my point and I hope you girls can see where I am coming from and before I head off to work, let me show you more images that I found from various websites. (images gotten from google)

 

I hope that if anyone of you reads this post irregardless whether you are big or slim, old or young, men or women. As long you have friends who is plus size and have self-esteem issues, kindly share this post to them. Let them understand that they are much more special than they think they are. The shouldnt let a silly 'F' word determine how they should live their life.

With the recent choice of fabric I got, it is a must to call this collection Pastels and Crayons. My interpretion was simple. I pray that every one of you who wears this collection will feel happy and extremenly joyful like colours and demure and feel the love (for yourself) like how the pastels in the colour palette portrays.
