Updates on what is going on.... and some queries answered

Olla! Its been a crazy 2 weeks for myself and the team as we had been blessed with media coverage, loaning of clothes from media and just preparing items for the media people took us quite a bit of time! It was definitely exciting working with them and I always get very emotional whenever I see the artistes gets to be donned up nicely. With the media loans (clothes) and filming over, we zoomed straight into getting busy with the festive season and has been frantically preparing new goodies for you. If you have been a fan of KAYLENE you should be by now realise that....

1) We recently introduced Kaylene.Jewelry! Many people asked about the jewelry range and why I decided to work on it. The reason is actually very simple. Being trained as a fine jewellery designer (top 3 student too eh? heh heh) I naturally missed those gemstones and their beauty. It was a straight 'Yes' when my sister Gen decided to embark on this journey with me. It was the most natural business expansion for KAYLENE especially when I have so much love for jewelry. We are starting slow, now only bringing in 925 silver with semi precious stones as well as 14K gold plated findings as well. The journey so far is really good! The customers love our pieces and we have been receiving really cool feedbacks too!A couple of sneaks for you

2) We have recently pumped up more exclusive pieces for you! As the demand for plus size clothing has changed drastically since 2007, it was extremely important for KAYLENE to make sure we are ahead of time and fashion and make sure that the girls gets the best for every dollar spent in the shop. We have firmed up a few reliable factorys and suppliers who are willing to work with us and give us exclusive pieces. Workmanship has greatly imporoved as KAYLENE main objective was to change more mindsets into getting good quality pieces so that you can keep for years. We have been fortunate so far and of course hiccups happens here and there. The hurdles seems to be higher to jump over than ever and the current seem to be going against us stronger. We still make sure we pace ourselves at a steady rate so that we will not disappoint you girls. We believe you girls will understand where KAYLENE is heading towards and ultimately is to the benefit for you all...

3) KAYLENE LUXE has finally arrived! 5 years ago, shortly after Lavender Closet was set up, we did our first LUXE range. Then, it was called the Lavender Luxe range and many girls loved the idea of owning equisite pieces. They do not like the idea of 'clashing' with others and they love the idea that plus size girls deserves to be beautiful too. Since then, we have rebranded ourselves as KAYLENE and evolved a hell lot (I have customers who ca vouch for that!)

KAYLENE LUXE is definitely a level up for any indie designer to ask for. First of all, the materials we use are imported from Hong Kong, Japan as well as Singapore. Material chosen are the best we can find and some are hard to get. The fabric suppliers has been extremely kind to us and they offer us very unique fabric with interesting textures. As for production wise, we have nothing else but full of praises. The factory not only does for KAYLENE, they also had a history working for Metro, Converse, Lacquar, GG<5, Hansel and many many more. There are some top notch local designers ( I really mean top notch that REPRESENTS Singapore) that worked with them before as well but I am unable to mention them. :) So you see, with the two 'creme de la creme' (fabric selection and production) combination, it is only natural that LUXE will be produced. I had been very grateful for customers feedback to me that they love the LUXE range so much till they only will purchase from this exclusive range. I also have recevied feedbacks that they are very happy to know that they now own local designer pieces and are proud to attend the high society events. I am truly blessed and thank God that all the fear and stress (seeds) I have sown, has now blossomed into something so beautiful. Yes, LUXE range will cost a little more dear but once you touch and look at the workmanship, you will understand the choice you made in investing the piece is right. It is really like spending that 4 digit for your bag as an investment piece, a piece you can use for a long time and a piece that reminds yourself that you deserve the every single cent spent on the item you are carrying.

From the way I forecast (so far has been accurate) more and more will want to share the 'plus size pie' like what one of our fan Beatrice from our Facebook has mentioned ( we would like to take this time to apologise to her as we had to remove one of her post to protect our customers privacy). We are aware that many plus size indie shops will pop up and that the market will be fiercer than before. Hence our decision to level up on our quality and designs is to ensure that we will constantly be ahead and not to disappoint our loyal customers.

Okay! Hope you girls have a better understanding on KAYLENE! Should you have more questions on KAYLENE, you can always private message us or drop us an email at kayde@kayleneonline.com or wadsap us at 94777028! We will try our best to reply all your queries!

Have a great weekend!

Blog: My 25 mins make up routine

disclaimer:

1) I AM NOT A MAKE UP ARTIST, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL. SOME MAKE UP ARTISTS WILL PROLLY STRANGLE ME FOR NOT DOING THE STEP BY STEP REGIME. I CANNOT CARE LESS SIMPLY BECAUSE....

2) I AM REALLY LAZY AND IF YOU WERE MY NEIGHBOUR AT MY MAMA'S HOUSE, YOU WILL CONSTANTLY HEAR SCREAMS FROM MA THAT WHY I DO NOT PRESENT MYSELF PROPERLY LIKE A GIRL. AND EVER SINCE RUNNING 2 BUSINESS...

3) I AM ALWAYS IN A RUSH FOR TIME NO MATTER HOW EARLY I WAKE UP. HENCE I 'DEVELOPED' A 25 MINUTES MAKE UP ROUTINE SO THAT I WILL NOT MESS UP MY APPOINTMENTS.

Okay, with all the mentioned disclaimer I can write the blog post up. IF in any case I have done anything wrong with the 'make up step by step' theory, pardon me. I am just trying to get the most using the least time.

It all happened a couple of days ago when I was highlighted by customer that she will never be able to wake up and look fresh and presentable for work. Another highlighted to me (a while back) that how come I can look presentable and never seemed to take too much effort on make up. I thought about it and decided to just tell you girls step by step on how I managed to get all these done in 25 mins. I did HESITATE for a while because I am embaressed to show my bare face on the internet with possibly hundreds of people reading this post. I was also ashamed as I am not a professional and STIL wanna give 'tutorial?' Then I thought, 'Heck, my intention is genuine and I am not hurting anyone so why not?

Okay, take a breather girls... a photobomb on selfies taken using natural lights and no photoedittig.

left: Bare faced, out from the bathroom.
right: I put on eye concealer around my eyes and used a brush to put on foundation that I got from Make Up Forever.
Their HD foundation is good!

I put on eyeliner and I tend to let my 'tips' fly to make my eyes look bigger

I added eyeline on the bottom of the eyelids and added eyeshadow. I do blend the colours well so that it wont look 'choppy' I use the Naked Palette by Urban Decay. SUPER!

I added darker hues at the outer of my eyelids and put on falsies. The falsies I use daily are from short to long for a natural effect. I prefer to look natural than to look like wayang-ish

I do contour my face to make myself look more 3-D and not like a flat bread. I use Make Up Forever's contouring palette

left: my face is done!I will sprage 'All Nigher' from Urban Decay to make sure my make up stays the whole day  right: I do a quick blow dry on my hair. TADAH! i am done and I can head out.

before and after. not that difficult right?

The bottom line to getting good make up results is using the right products and using the right tools. I either ask friends who are in the make up industry for advice or I just walk up to any sephora staff for help. Tell them your budget and the best they can offer to you with your request. sometimes they can even give you addtional tips!

Ok ladies! All done in 25 mins!
